I wanted to take a moment to update a post as the hotel has bent ov. Er backwards to make.this right. The General Manager read my post and literally tracked me down in my meeting to apologize for the inconvenience. He personally handled the checkin and delivered a room key to me in my meeting. He upgraded my room to a suite which is lovely and left a bottle of wine and some cheese to boot!
In a final act of contrition - which was completely unnecessary as he had already convinced me that what happened was completely out of character for the property's culture - he personally met me at end of my meeting to escort me to my room. Again, would have been more than satisfied with a nice apology and the short-circuited check-in but the GM showed me the true heart of the hotel. I think the thing that impressed me the most was that while the employee's error was pretty egregious, the GM owned the situation as his and emphasized that they needed to escalate the employee's training and ensure that he understood his management would always support his actuons when the.motive was to ensure guests had the right experience. Yesterday morning i would have told you never again will I stay here. Today as I sip coffee and on the patio and soak in the solace of a lovely property.

I just returned from a lovely day at the Willow Creek Spa. I checked in at the Spa front desk, and asked to pay the bill for both my facial and my sister's (it was her birthday). The cost was substantial and included an 18% gratuity, which was fine. The facials were very well done, using nice products and quite experienced therapists. My sister's therapist mentioned the 'Good Neighbor' policy that extends discounts of some kind to guests who live nearby (I do). I went back to the check - in desk to ask about this, and was given a fairly vague and rather rude response and told to 'fill out a card for next time'.

Conversely, we went to the Big 3 restaurant for lunch, and our server asked us immediately if we were locals, and automatically gave us a 20% discount. Needless to say, the cost of the entire lunch was still less than what the 'neighbor' rate discount on the treatments would have been. I was just disappointed by the way it was handled by the Spa. It seemed like they were trying to avoid the whole thing. If so, take it off of your website!
More Show less. From the moment we pulled up in our economy rental car (ha!) - it was great. The valets were so friendly and funny and to be greeted with sparkling wine really started our stay off beautifully.
Sonoma Mission Inn Good Neighbor Program
Upon check in, our room was a bit delayed - no worries - another complimentary drink while we waited! We upgraded to the Mission Suite and that was so beautiful! Fireplace, huge jacuzzi tub and a balcony overlooking a fountain. It was our anniversary - and chocolate strawberries were sent up with a lovely note. The entire staff was so gracious and warm. Concierge really listened to what we wanted to do - and totally gave us the best recommendations.
I would highly suggest joining the Presidents Club - costs nothing and you get free WIFI! (I still think it's outdated to charge for that, but that's just me). The spa was terrific too - the pool with the music playing - a definite must do. Would LOVE to stay here again if (WHEN) we are able to come back!
Posted on January 30, 2009 by Sonoma Valley Sun When word started leaking out last fall that the spa at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn had started a Good Neighbor program that granted non-guests and non-members access to the pools on Mondays – all day, every Monday – the place became mobbed. The staff remained incredibly cordial and patient, even when visitors became a little huffy that the spa had run out of those big fluffy robes and, some evenings, even the funky black spa sandals.
The indoor and outdoor hot tubs became crowded – it’s a surprise no fisticuffs occurred when people would hog the jets – although if you picked your time of day wisely, you could get in, get a bath, get a towel and get out. The idea was to introduce locals to the joys of the spa. That goal was definitely achieved. As the no-fee program became known valley-wide, things got a bit out of hand. Rumor had it that on at least one occasion, a group of young women, who apparently lacked an awareness of proper spa etiquette, called out for pizza to be delivered poolside. The program ended in December, but by then the staff had taken an informal poll: What would people be willing to pay for access to the spa? Apparently the magic number is $25.
That’s what Good Neighbors will have to pay to use the fitness equipment, attend complimentary fitness classes and use the bathing ritual Sunday through Friday. Good Neighbor guests also receive a 10 percent discount on spa treatments (when a spa treatment is scheduled, the $25 entrance fee will be waived). For reservations or to ask questions about the Good Neighbor Program, call 877.289.7354.
